Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to create an account. Child accounts may be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian through the Family tier, and the guardian is responsible for that child's use of the Service.

2. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and encryption keys secure.
• Because of our zero-knowledge design, we cannot recover your messages if you lose your keys or password. Keep your recovery information safe.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
• Distribute malware, spam, or attempt unauthorized access to any system;
• Harass, abuse, exploit, or harm any person, including minors;
• Reverse engineer or interfere with the security or integrity of the Service, except to the extent permitted by law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions, Trials & Payments

• kryptem is offered on a subscription basis. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial unless stated otherwise.
• Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or our card processor, and renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Store purchases are subject to the platform's refund policy.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle the limited data we process.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, and trademarks, is owned by kryptem and protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. Your content remains yours.

7. Service Availability

We work hard to keep the Service available and secure, but we provide it "as is" and do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, kryptem is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data arising from your loss of encryption keys or credentials. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the Service ends, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of North Macedonia. Disputes are subject to the competent courts of Skopje, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have in your country of residence.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email and in-app notification. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
